Disappointing Defeats

Hi Everyone.

My latest blog is to give you my opinion on the last two defeats in the league against Uxbridge and Kettering respectively.

A very disappointing two games and a big jolt to our title aspirations. Starting with Kettering. A big crowd saw in my opinion a very even first half. The game lacked quality in both final thirds but probably being biased but I thought we slightly shaded the half up until the sending off! Scott Bridges tripped one of their lads who went down and stayed down. What most didn't see was the elbow to Scott's face which triggered the retaliation. Don't get me wrong I am not defending Scott's actions but the fact that both sets of the bench were amazed he got a red was a indication that it was harsh!

From there on we went into the dressing room at 0-0. Still determined to get a win! Many a management team would have 'Parked the Bus' but my thoughts were to pursue the win for the first 15-20 mins and then if needed consolidate and put players behind the ball! Unfortunately we conceded in the first ten minutes so rather than sit back we carried on trying to push for some kind of result leaving us open with an attitude of '…. or bust' Obviously goal difference will come into things at the end of the season but getting points was the objective throughout.

Some may disagree with this approach but at least it shows a positivity that some could admire?

To carry on the doom and gloom I have to report on our dismal showing against Uxbridge! Although, had we taken our chances the game would have been dead and buried. We didn't and Uxbridge on one of their rare opportunities showed the finishing qualities missing from our performance.

Both results are big blows but with 66 points still to play for and most teams slipping up (other than Kettering) we just need to get back on track and quick. I speak for myself, the rest of the management team and the players that there is a belief that we will bring success this season!!

We need to work hard, all stay together and come back stronger!!.

Onto next week. The youth lads have a massive game on Monday against Oxford City in the third round of their youth cup tie. I'll be there but want to publically wish them all the best! A big carrot in the next round! Arsenal or Reading!!

As for the First Team Corby in the last 16 of the Red Insure Cup. Let's move on everyone and hope for two great cup victories !!
