Very Positive Signs

Hi!

Reporting in on a very satisfying pre-season game against a team in AFC Sudbury who are a level higher than us in the non league pyramid!

1-0 flattered them with us having several other good opportunities to add to our solidarity Gary Cohen goal.

Everyone involved deserve full plaudits today.

The signs were very positive from the start with all of us on the front foot.

Sudbury in fairness to them tried to play the ball out from the back but we denied them any space and “Pressed” the life out of them.

As said in previous blogs, pre-season results are not the priority but solid performances are and it certainly was.

We welcomed back both Adam Murray and Nathan Frater. Both have been away with other commitments. Good to see both are well on the way to full fitness.

Others may take a bit longer but all are definitely going in the right direction.

Onto Tuesday and first “competitive” match of the season in the Herts Charity Cup against Conference South contenders Bishop’s Stortford. I know the club in general very well and I think it’s safe to say they are in a transitional period at the moment. Losing their manager to Chelmsford as well as several players but a new man is at the helm with a different outlook so a no less challenge will be undertook by us.

Since I have been at the club, amongst plenty of highs, there’s been one real disappointment in as much that we have never really done ourselves justice against teams from a higher level in competitive matches!

Barring the Wingate victory last season, I feel we could believe in ourselves more and really take up the mantle against these clubs.

Hopefully with our Saturday performance fresh in our minds, we can make a real impact!!

Cheers,
SC
