A scrappy game left Royston on the brink of relegation as visitors Redditch maintained their play off hopes with a 2-1 victory.
A gusty wind and a bobbly surface made it difficult for both sides and as a result the game was of a very low quality with the ball spending a large amount of time in the air.
The away side had the first chance as a deflected shot landed at the feet of Alex Cameron who put his effort wide when he should have at least hit the target.
The next chance saw The Reds take the lead, as a free kick delivered by Morgan Owen from out wide evaded everyone and ended up in the corner of the net. The Crows nearly found themselves 2-0 down and were indebted to Reuben Rabstein for a close range save before Alfie Thornett cleared the follow-up effort off the line.
The lead was doubled in first half stoppage time as Robbie Bunn hit a well struck shot from 30 yards into the bottom corner.
With Royston struggling to create any openings it looked like the game was petering out but substitute Joe Iaciofano raised the home supporters hopes as he scored from close range in injury time after Adam Murray’s header had been saved.
With renewed hope the Crows nearly forced an equaliser in the sixth minute of injury time as Iaciofano’s acrobatic volley went narrowly over, leaving Redditch with all 3 points.
