An “Off Day” at Hanwell

We turned up today at Hanwell Town FC fully expecting to carry on our recent good run of results.

I had to make some very tough choices in personnel to the starting line up, especially in the heart of the defence where I went for Frates and Adam Murray in favour of an unlucky Joe De La Salle.

Other than that we kept to the previous line-up but with Scott Bridges coming in to the midfield with Danny May reverting back to his more familiar right back role.

I made the hard decision to put three lads into our reserves for differing reasons. Ingers to get his confidence in front of goal back. Jack to get back into the swing of things after a 2 week holiday and Towns to keep his match fitness up.

The starting 11 was strong but pretty much to a player it didn’t happen today.

I really didn’t see it coming, hopefully not complacency but an ” Off Day”

The lads must know there’s so much competition for places! Their performance levels can’t drop! The group is so talented but competition is fierce. This should bring the best out of them all.

I will consult with my reserve team manager Tommy Taylor on performance levels of all the ressie lads. After today, other than the goalkeeper the selection has been thrown wide open.

My hope is that everyone takes the choices made by me in the right way and whatever the outcome, either in or out of the next 11 respond in a positive fashion.

We will be successful this year. As long as the boys keep pushing one another, week in week out.

No more “Off Days”

Cheers,
SC
