Another Postponement

A called off match for us to contend with. This time it was an away fixture against Barton Rovers that succumbed to the weather. We now have to go over there midweek, not exactly sure when but another game to fit in between now and the end of season. No real drama yet because we still have time to get them in but hopefully not many more postponed games please.

It’s been very unfortunate for us because after our morale boosting wins recently we could have done with regular matches. We’ll take it on the chin, train as normal and be ready for whatever comes our way.

Saturday brought an opportunity for me to look at our reserves in their Final against Met Police. Unfortunately the score, 4-1 to the opposition didn’t reflect the whole story. We made a couple of mistakes in the first half which put us 2-0 down but rallied and pushed forward. On another day we could easily have had 2 penalties awarded which could have put us level. As with the cruel game that football is they didn’t have many opportunities to increase their lead but what chances they had they finished very well and we found ourselves 4-0 down.

Fair play to our players they kept pushing and got a goal back, not all lost and in the 2nd leg if we can score first it could make it interesting.

The reserves are mostly young lads. I’m a believer that negatives make you learn and hopefully these boys can take that out of the game if nothing else.
