Lessons to be Learned

Not the start all of us wanted today with a loss at home to a organised Stratford team but valuable lessons to be learned from in what is a higher level than we have played thus far.

Lesson 1 – Not to give opportunities/goals away cheaply!
This one I feel has been a carry on from our pre-season form where although great football played, far too many chances given to the opposition for my liking!

Lesson 2 – To keep our discipline throughout the 90 mins. We had Adam Murray sent off and although in my opinion both were holding one another aggressively, the referee made the choice that Adam was being more aggressive than their lad. Both should either been sent off or both booked but this time it didn’t go our way.

The remaining boys rallied and took the challenge of being one man down admirably. We changed shape, took gambles to get the equaliser but on this occasion to no avail.

Very early days in our progress, hopefully more belief and definitely a stronger will to not concede is the order of the day for me.

It is evident to me that the squad is strong, we will certainly compete but not to allow the opposition chances is our priority!
