TOM’S WEEKEND PREVIEW – April 20th & 21st

Hi and welcome to this weekend’s preview with Royston Town FC, Royston Town Women and Royston Town U23’s.

On Sunday, Royston Town Women are taking a break from league action again, however, the reason is they have a cup final against Watford Ladies U23’s in the Herts Women’s Cup kick-off 3pm. Our route to the final was a 2-1 win over Stevenage Women with Charlotte South and Laura Mills scoring and a 4-0 win over Harpenden Town Women with an Emma Slater brace alongside Poppy Smith also scoring a brace.

We would love to see you get down and support the Women, we are running a supporters coach which departs from 1:30 pm from King James Way Town Hall Car Park where an adult and child costs only £5.

Next up, Royston Town are on the road for the final time this season when they travel to Black Country to take on Stourbridge FC in the Southern League Premier Central, Saturday 3pm kick-off. This is also one of the grounds Royston have yet to win at so we are hoping to do it this time round. One of Stourbridge’s former players was Mark Bellingham father of Jude and Jobe Bellingham and Jude Bellingham played for the youth side on which his dad helped set up before signing on to Birmingham City and is now playing his trade at Real Madrid. Stourbridge have been playing at their current ground the War Memorial Athletic Ground since 1888 just 12 years into existence. The ground is next to the cricket club which has hosted two international matches. The club’s nickname is the Glassboys the reason being is Stourbridge was known for it’s cut glass industry.
