Tony Barrett Celebration Race Day

A Celebration Race Day is being organised on Friday 15 August 2014 at Newmarket’s July course in memory of former Crows player Tony Barrett, who sadly passed away last June.

It is an evening meeting and one of the “Newmarket Nights” events and includes a concert by Wet Wet Wet after racing.

The organisers will be sponsoring the first race on the card which will be named after Tony.

To raise the necessary sponsorship costs there will be a fund raising disco at Royston Town Football Club on Saturday 7 June. Tickets will be £10 each.

The ticket price for the racing will be £50 per person which includes the coach fare from Royston, entry to the Premier Enclosure at Newmarket and a £5 donation to Pancreatic Cancer Action.

The coach will leave Royston at about 2:30pm and Newmarket around 9:00pm. This is before the concert finishes but should ensure a far easier exit from the course.

After covering the race sponsorship costs proceeds from both events will go to Pancreatic Cancer Action.

We would like as many people as possible to join us so if you would like to do so or would like more information please contact either Roy East on 07946 060528 or Gemma Barrett on 07971 184549. Alternatively please e-mail:

If you can’t make it but would like to make a donation to Pancreatic Cancer Action please get in touch.

In any event please let the organisers know by Friday 16 May 2014 if you are interested in joining them for either the disco and/or the race day.
