CROWS BLOG: A GOOD DRAW

CROWS BLOG: A GOOD DRAW

Hi everyone,

Not a bad result from the travelling Crows on Saturday but considering that our opponents, Coalville,  have blasted everyone previously and had achieved maximum points before Saturday then I feel that not only a point but a good degree of belief can come from the game.

We created more chances than our hosts but they were extremely clinical with theirs – something that we really need to work on.

Please don’t think I’m dripping, I’m certainly not. The boys gave their all and overall they thoroughly deserved the result. There’s so much more to come from this group but the team spirit is definitely there!

Chris and I came up with a game plan, although to be honest, it was Chris that explained it to me! It was more about concentrating on stopping them rather than us taking the game to them and to a large degree it worked.  The downside to this approach was having to drop a few to accommodate our plan and to achieve our shape and intent. As I said it worked but I must say that the lads that got left out took it very well and stayed positive throughout. I’ve said it before on numerous occasions but it really is a squad game and the group is all-important.

On to the week ahead and we have a free week in regards to mid-week matches but it’s an important training time. On Saturday we host Stourbridge and although they haven’t got off to the best of starts it’s still early and they are always a tough team to play against.

Yesterday I popped along to Garden Walk to see the Women kick off their league campaign – unfortunately, they were on the wrong side of the result but it was a very enjoyable game.

I feel a big part of my role is to try to bring us all together. We are very strong if we can all keep together. The Youth, Women, U18s, U23s and the First Team or any team wearing the Crows badge all need to be supported and it is my intention to get the men to integrate even more and to make sure that everyone supports one another!

Cheers for now.
