The Ressies had a break from League action this weekend and went into this Reserve Challenge Trophy 1st round match away to a strong AFC Dunstable side.
Late withdrawals and heavy traffic seemed to have no effect on the Crows who enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges despite only arriving 20 minutes before kick off.
Indeed it was Royston who took the lead when skipper JOHN BITTING smashed home a low free kick from a full 40 yards after a trivial challenge on SCOTT CROSK.
Royston found themselves on level terms when the slightest hint of hesitancy in a static back four let in the home forward to bundle home and things got so much worse, when Dunstable hit the Town on the break to go 2-1 in front.
This young side never know when they are beaten and led by the ever impressive DAVID CAIN went in search of the equaliser and it was most apt when CAIN himself looped a header into the net from a BITTING corner.
Both teams went close in search of the winner but extra time loomed .
Royston suffered another set back, with Dunstable once again catching them on the break with the home forward smashing home from close range late into the 1st period
The 2nd period of Extra time saw a change in formation as Royston searched to level the scores.
BITTING again showed his worth to cooly slot a pin point HARRY ADCROFT cross home and BITTING then turned provider when a his well rehearsed corner was smashed home by the determined LEE BATES.
This trophy is held in high regard by the Ressies and they are keen to regain it.
