Match Report: Carshalton Res v Royston Town Res

Carshalton Reserves 2

Royston Town Res    4

The Crows second string took all three points in this highly entertaining opening fixture.

After a gruelling 3 1/2 hour journey Royston looked a little lethargic and went behind to  the hosts 1st real attack.

Despite this setback Royston regrouped and got a foot hold in the game, enjoying long periods of possession and continually frustrating the home side with incisive and precise play.

This pattern of play proved too much for one of the home side who without provocation felled the impressive AEDAN GAFFNEY and was duly and rightly dismissed.

A half time re-shuffle quickly saw the Crows on level terms, with ALEXIS BERNAL coolly slotting home and beautiful passing move and minutes later GREGG JACKSON made it 2 converting DANNY BOND’s slide rule pass with a peach of a chip.

Goal 3 is a contender for team goal of the season already, JOE RYAN scored with a simple tap in but the move started some three minutes sooner with no less than 18 passes as Royston made the numerical advantage count, keeping the ball and drawing the home side out before BOND gain provided a team mate with a finish.

GREGG JACKSON turned another positive BOND through ball into a goal before Carshalton grabbed a late consolation.

With 4 of the Royston side making their debuts for the Club in this game the future looks good for all concerned.
