Royston Town Vets had a reality check on Sunday when they were soundly beaten 5-2 by Eaton Socon Vets in the opening match in the Cambs F.A.Vets League 1.

 

Individually and collectively Town produced their worst display of the season. The hosts went three goals up in the first 20 minutes and Town never recovered. Paul Gibson pulled one goal back before half time but Eaton Socon extended their lead again twice more before Andy Howard scored the goal of the game with a stunning right foot rocket from 30 yards.

 

The Vets play Fox & Duck at Therfield next week.
