Town Vets agreed to a hastily arranged fixture against a competitive Hardwick Vets side in atrocious weather at Pembroke College Cambridge on Sunday and despite a valliant effort were beaten 4-1.
Hardwick dominated the early stages and although ‘keeper Simon Dobson thwarted the hosts on a couple of occasions he could not prevent them scoring 2 goals in the first half.
Town’s troubles were compounded when Matt McQueen suffered an injury and Peter Leete covered for him at centre-back.
Hardwick scored twice more before Nejat ‘Magic’ Kocak won the ball in the Hardwick penalty area and scored a fine individual effort.
By mid-way through the second half and with standing water collecting on large areas of the pitch from the continuous rain it was agreed to bring the game to a premature end.
