Town Vets maintained their good run of form with an outstanding performance to defeat Hemingford 4-2.

Town opened the scoring after 5 minutes when Peter Leete converted a pin-point cross from the right by Paul Wenlock. Powerful fellow striker Ant Anstead then took the game away from Hemingford with an outstanding hat-trick before half-time. Town’s own defence of Paddy Coughlin, Adam Smith, Nick King and Geoff Pinner were in a miserly mood to deny the home attack any meaningful attempt on goal in the first half.

Manager Terry Gore changed personnel during the second half and although ‘keeper Simon Dobson made one brilliant save to keep the hosts out he was helpless to prevent the two goals Hemingford did score.

Mark Saggers and Anstead both had goal-bound efforts saved by the home ‘keeper but Town failed to add to their tally and the game ended in a 4-2 win for Town.

Town Vets entertain Walkern at Garden Walk next Sunday.
