Match | Hertford Heath v Royston Town Reserves |
Competition | Herts Intermediate Cup (R3) |
Result | Won 3-2 (aet) |
Royston Scorers | Bates(2), Hutchinson |
For the 2nd time in a week the Ressies found themselves facing extra time in a cup competition after a luck lustre display away at Hertford Heath.
After what is becoming a trade mark with Town piling on all the pressure only to get caught with a sucker punch, Royston fell behind after 20 minutes and it was left to the ever reliable boot of LEE BATES to level the score after a fantastic pass from LANRE ADIBIYI.
With several changes from the usual starting line up,Town gave a debut to DAN BOND ,whose pace caused problems all afternoon for the hard working home defence.
BATES looked to have wrapped the game up when he converted a ROB GWYNNE through ball but a moment of madness allowed the home side to level with the last kick of a dire game.
Royston introduced DEAN HUTCHINSON and STUART JACKSON and the fresh legs soon paid off when JACKSON'S mazy run and delicate pass allowed HUTCHINSON to fire into the roof of the net from the edge of the box.
The game then petered out as Royston progressed into yet another round of yet another cup.
