Royston’s failure to kill off the game in the first half from the many chances created was ultimately their downfall in this Premier Division Cup fixture.
The standard of the football in this game was of a very high quality with the host’s counter attacking some of the best Royston have had to face this season but The Crows played well in the first half and should have been out of sight by half time.

George Brinkman and Josh Bronti each missed a trio of opportunities from inside the box to score goals without testing the keeper and like so often happens in football Kingsbury took the lead midway through the half from a tap in after a fierce 20 yarder had been tipped onto a post by Luke Howard and the ball had been followed up.

New signing Tom Hayes equalised from close range converting Bronti’s cross and was unlucky with an off target near post header and another one on one strike that the keeper blocked.

With the scores level at half time the game was more even & end to end in the second half. Arron Welch had an early header well saved and Ross Collins hit a scorching drive against a post. George Brinkman put another close range effort just wide at full stretch before the hosts took the lead from a harshly awarded free kick.

Again the goal was scored from a close range tap in after Luke Howard failed to hold onto the free kick towards goal with the striker eagerly waiting.

Royston laid siege on the host’s goal for the remaining 15 minutes but a wall of nine players in defence often made it difficult to create the chances and a 94th minute goal on the break punished the Crows more severely and another defeat, Royston’s fourth in a row, was endured
