Match Report: Newmarket Town Vets v Royston Town Vets

Newmarket Town Vets 1 Royston Town Vets 5

Following their 4-1 win in August against Steeple Morden, Royston Town Vets travelled to Dullingham on Sunday for a convincing victory over Newmarket Town Vets in a sporting encounter.

With new Team Manager Stuart Snowden on his way back from holiday in France and a few of last season's stalwarts unavailable the team welcomed some new players to the squad (Peter Flack, Barrie Finch, Jay Grant and Ian Scripps) and Andrew Howard back from a long injury lay-off.

Paddy Coughlin opened the scoring after 10 minutes and the lively Steve McGee added two more before Peter Flack completed the scoring in the first half with a fierce drive into the roof of the net. Royston should have extended their lead but Paul Gibson missed from the penalty spot.

The hosts opened their account with a well-taken penalty in a more evenly-contested second half. Chris Geldart ran through to score Town's 5th and final goal in the final 15 minutes.

The Vets play Cambridge Vets at home next week.
