Crows exited the Senior Cup at the Quarter Final stage with a disappointing performance at Oxhey Jets, who ran out deserved winners.
The lengthy lay-off looked to have taken its toll on the players as they lacked sharpness and intensity and let themselves down too often in the first half.
Ricky Young had an early chance excellently saved and Ross Collins shot wide when clear on goal but a penalty and a conversion following a defensive mistake gave the Jets a two-goal at the break.
Royston had much of the possession in the second half but Jets put many players behind the ball and chances were few and far between. Matt Standen fired over from a tight angle but the rapid Jets forward looked a threat on a few occasions and veteran keep Simon Dobson made three one on one saves with Royston committing numbers forward.
It was 4th time lucky late on as another one on one was converted at the near post before Jack Bradshaw headed in a late consolation from a free kick but there was no way back into the contest.
