Once again the Town’s 2nd string faced a strong and determined side with Kings Langley doing everything within the laws of the game and some things from outside the laws to stop Royston’s flowing game.

Indeed from the first whistle the visitors made their intentions clear conceding a free kick just inside the Royston half with just 2 minutes played.

Royston, as expected dominated the game, leaving ‘keeper JORDEN GIBSON with nothing to do but admire the passing game in front of him. The town went close on several occasions but seemed to lack the cutting edge in front of goal that has been so prevalent in recent games.

The second half was still a fairly dour affair. Royston continued to play football and should have been in a commanding lead long before a well worked corner routine produced a headed goal for AARON HARVEY.

The home side should really have then kicked on and scored more goals but a combination of wasteful finishing and Kings Langley’s tactics mixed in with some strange decision making from the referee all contributed to Royston’s low score.

Assistant Manager ADAM SMITH said “The guys showed a dogged determination out there today and we have also remained unbeaten and kept a clean sheet, so things are somewhere where we want them”.

The Ressies take a break from league games next week travelling to Dunstable for cup game.
