Match Royston Town Reserves  v Oxhey Jets Reserves
Competition Spartan South Midlands League: Reserve Division One
Result Lost 3-2
Royston Scorers Bailey, Bates

For the second week running,Town's Reserves paid the ultimate price for a lack lustre performance when once again they lost the game by the odd goal.

Despite starting the brighter of the teams Royston went a goal behind after allowing the Jets number 10 the freedom of the pitch to pick his spot and rifle a fierce drive past the luckless WILL NORRIS.

The home side levelled when the ever hard working BRINSLEY BAILEY volleyed home a ROGER SKEGGS cross from close in.

In an almost exact repeat of the first goal Royston once again went behind from a long range shot, which NORRIS could only parry and the Oxhey player, being more awake to the situation than the Royston defence, bundled home.

As the game drew towards half time LEE BATES pulled the home side level with customary aplomb.

The home side knew they had to improve and came out for the second period with all guns blazing but could not turn possession into goals.

Just to compound Roystons miserable day Oxhey stole all three points with the last kick of the game with yet another, albeit deflected, long range effort.

Skipper Bates said after the game: "We have so many talented players, I'm sure we will get it right soon".
