Date Saturday 16  March 2013
Match Royston Town Reserves v Bedfont Sports Reserves
Competition Suburban League: North Division
Result Won 2-1
Royston Scorers Parr, Young

With the weather decimating the league programme, Royston took full advantage of the situation to close the gap on their title rivals with this home win.

Bedfont proved tough opposition in the reverse of this fixture earlier in the season,  and this again looked to be the case when against the run of play a totally unmarked player,  finished low past the unprotected HARRY REYNOLDS to open the scoring.

The home side then adjusted the formation in attempt to level and close efforts from JASON BECK and JAMES MEREDITH proved the new systems worth before TAYLOR PARR equalised with a rasping finish from the edge of Bedfonts area.

Despite Royston dominating the whole of the 2nd half, the points were won from a RICKY YOUNG penalty  after BECK had been uncompromisingly dumped on the floor by the visiting centre half.
Royston had chances to extend the lead but there were some noticeable chances that were left untaken.

Assistant ADAM SMITH was quick to praise the teams determination when he said  “In many ways, this is what we needed to prove to ourselves that we could win ugly. We sometimes need to get down and dirty to win these games, and overall we are happy with the lads”.
