The Ressies pulled off their biggest win of the season with this delightful win over their illustrious opponents on Saturday.
On paper this tie looked to be going the Conference academy side's way but the Crows proved to have other ideas and enjoyed the majority of possession in the opening stages.
However, the visitors took the lead from the penalty spot on the 40th minute when their forward tumbled over the advancing LUKE HOWARD.
Straight after the restart, Royston upped their game and the pattern of play suited the home side, who got their just rewards with the ever popular RICKY YOUNG levelling the scores when he rounded the visiting keeper and coolly slotted home.
This gave the Crows the kick start they needed and with the introduction of RYAN WEBB the Farnborough goal was placed under siege.
DALTON O’BRIEN and JJ ROBERTSON both went close with only good goal keeping and the woodwork keeping the visitors in the game.
Royston continued the domination into extra time and took the lead when DANNY APOSTOLOS found GREGG JACKSON with a pin point pass and JACKSON shot high into the net.
JOE PHILBIN marshalled the home defence superbly and it really came as no surprise when YOUNG once again pierced the Farnborough defence before acrobatically extending the lead with a fine overhead kick.
This is the third team the Ressies have beaten in this competition this season.
Head Coach John Bitting commented “We played well today with many of the side showing their true potential. Our target now is to see just how far we can go in this competition”.
