Royston were the architects of their own downfall, as a cheaply conceded free kick in the first half and a needlessly surrendered penalty in the second half, resulted in Chesham leaving Garden Walk with all 3 points.

The match was always a tight, competitive affair, with Royston taking early control of proceedings. Despite this the home side struggled to create any clear sights of goal, with the only real opening seeing John Frendo volleying over, after a slick move involving Adam Marriott and Sam Corcoran.

The opening goal arrived in the 33rd minute as Jefferson Louis, with the aid of a deflection off of the wall, fired in a low 30 yard free kick.

The game continued to be a midfield battle with both sides cancelling each other out. Royston made 3 early second half substitutions in an attempt to create some openings, but this ultimately had little effect, as the hard working Chesham midfield and defensive lines, snuffed out what little threat the Crows offered.

The game was settled in the 77th minute, as a surging run by Lewis Toomey was halted by Adam Murray’s poorly timed sliding tackle, as Toomey headed away from goal. The resultant penalty kick was confidently dispatched by Louis, to complete his double and saw Chesham end the Crows nine game home winning streak.
