Town Vets continued their run of good form with a narrow 2-1 win over Buntingford Vets on Sunday at Garden Walk.

In a fairly even first half in which both defences dominated, chances were in short supply. However, after 30 minutes Town took the lead when John Moulding fired in an unstoppable right foot volley into the far corner of the net from 20 yards out. Town should have increased their lead soon after when the ball fell loose in a packed six-yard area but none of the forwards made a move for the ball and a defender cleared the danger.

Town had the best of possession in the second half and Nick King and Matt McQueen were outstanding at the heart of the defence. Town deservedly increased their lead on the 60 minute mark when Peter Leete headed in a Carlo Silenti cross from the right. Ian Allen then went close with a shot that skimmed the bar.

The visitors reduced the arrears after 70 minutes and then almost equalised near the end.
