Royston Town Vets 0 Cherry Hinton Vets 1

Royston Town Vets lost their Cambs F.A Vets Invitation Cup Final at Garden Walk on Sunday by a single goal scored 10 minutes from the end of the game by visitors Cherry Hinton Vets – who retain the trophy they won last year.

Town went into the game missing regulars Laurence Revell (broken hand) and John Moulding (family commitments).

After a close-contested opening 30 minutes Town suffered a double blow when 'keeper Simon Dobson had to leave the field with a calf injury and Paddy Coughlin twisted his ankle. Dave Cooper took over in goal and made a string of good saves.

As the second half progressed it looked increasingly likely that the match would be settled on penalties. However with 10 minutes left the more youthful opponents created about the first clear-cut chance of the game and went 1-0 ahead. Town fought hard to get back into the game but failed to do so.
