Royston Town Vets 2 Croxley Community Vets 0

Royston Town Vets progressed to the quarter-finals of the Herts FA Veterans' Cup with a 2 – 0 victory over Croxley Community Vets at Garden Walk on Sunday.

Town shaded a close first half against a well-organised and competitive Croxley Community Vets from near Watford. The breakthrough came after 20 minutes when Town were awarded two penalties within a 5-minute period. Dicky Harris was fouled from behind for the first spot kick which Stuart Snowden failed to convert but he then made amends soon after with a well-taken second penalty following a hand-ball offence.

Town continued to look the more likely team to score in the second half and their second goal came from a superb free-kick from 25 yards converted by John Moulding following a foul on Kevin Barthrop.

Next Sunday sees a return to the Cambs Vets League 1 with a trip to Great Shelford.
