Town Vets were given a harsh lesson in clinical finishing by a skilful and talented Hemingford team on Sunday at Garden Walk.

The visitors were quickly into their stride whilst Town found it difficult to string two passes together and it was no surprise when Hemingford took an early two-goal lead. In the last 20 minutes of the first half Town started to become competitive and Nick Humphreys' pace down the left put pressure on the Hemingford defence. Humphreys hit a rasping left-foot volley that had the 'keeper well beaten but the ball hit crashed against the bar and rebounded away from goal. The 'keeper was forced into a brilliant save to keep a John Moulding humdinger out and Carlo Silenti following in placed his header into the 'keeper's arms.

In the second half Town continued to threaten the Hemingford goalmouth but a combination of good goalkeeping and bad luck prevented Town from scoring. At the other end the pace and skill of the visitors forwards were always a constant menace and 'keeper Simon Dobson was called to make a string of saves. In the end the pressure on Town's defence paid off and Town conceded four more goals, including two penalties, to give the visitors a 6-0 lead. Dave Daniels and Peter Leete both went close before Daniels finally ran through to score a consolation goal for Town.
