Town Vets hit top form on Sunday at Garden Walk with a thumping 7-1 thrashing of old rivals Standon & Puckeridge.

As Peter Leete was unavailable Town gave a debut to Ant Anstead who impressed leading the line and chipping in with two well-taken goals. The pace and trickery of Nehat ‘Magic’ Kojak was a constant threat to the visitors defence and Mark Saggers rounded off a polished performance with a hat-trick.

It was the debutant, Anstead, who gave Town the lead after 10 minutes with a low right foot volley and then mid-fielder Mark Saggers extended the lead soon after with a firm drive through a crowded six-yard area. Paul Wenlock scored Town’s third from close range before the visitors pulled a goal back following sloppy work in defence.

Town continued to dominate in the second half and duly added a fourth goal when Saggers scored from the penalty spot following a foul on Anstead. Saggers completed his hat-trick with an unstoppable left-foot screamer from 30 yards.

Anstead scored number six and the scoring was completed by Carlo Silenti with a tap-in from close range.
