Match Report: Tonbridge Angels Reserves v Royston Town Reserves

Tonbridge Angels Res 2
V
Royston Town Res      5.

The Crows youngsters put in a real mature performance that belied their ages with this excellent win away to a previously undefeated Tonbridge side.
The game as expected started slowly as each team made exploratory probes of each other defences but it was Royston who struck 1st with an incisive DAVID MANU run and shot that rebounded off the underside of the home team bar before MITCH COOPER reacted swiftly to head the ball home. 1-0 to the Crows. COOPER then made it 2-0, this goal being all about the players strength in holding off 2 challenges before rifling the ball past the bewildered keeper.

Royston then slowed the game down, playing with the opposition before launching yet another finely worked attack capped off with a low shot into the net from HARRY CRUTTENDEN to put Royston three up at the interval.

Tonbridge, with nothing to lose threw everything at Town in the opening 20 minutes of the 2nd period and gained some reward and a chink of hope with a low drive into BEN WATSON’s net before the ever impressive REECE KING raced onto GREGG JACKSON’s defence splitting pass for the fourth Royston Goal.

Royston then made some changes to relieve tired legs, MATT CHAPMAN making way for ADA CAMBRIDGE, and DANNY BOND coming on for the impressive debutant DAVID MANU.

Tonbridge capitalised on some indecision in the away defence before DANNY BOND showed pace tenacity and skill to open his account this season driving the ball low and hard into the Tonbridge net.

Although the score line is impressive and people look at the goals scored, the defence today were superb, dealing with a massive physical presence. Our star man today was ADAM FLEMING” commented reserves ever present KEV WILSON.
