Match Report: Uxbridge Reserves v Royston Town Reserves

Uxbridge Reserves 1-3 Royston Town Reserves

A change in players available forced a change of formation for the Ressies and this in turn brought about a change in performance.

Previous weeks have seen a slow start and an air of something not being quite as should be seeping into the Crows flowing passing game.

However, against Uxbridge the tempo returned from the first whistle as both sides probed and tested one another’s defence.

Royston took the lead via a route-one approach when MITCHELL COOPER smashed home a long direct STUART JACKSON clearance.

The tenacious REECE KING added to his growing reputation for Roystons second, firing home from 20 yards after a fine exchange of passes involving MATTY CHAPMAN and JOSH CASTILIOGNE.

After the interval Royston showed a rarely seen side of their game, when they were forced to defend as the home side, with nothing to lose applied a fierce pressure on the Royston goal.

A fine goalkeeping display from MAYSON TEWKSBURY backed with a great debut from MICHAEL GRAHAM, held firm for most of the half but with 20 minutes to go Uxbridge were awarded and converted a controversial penalty.

The Crows kept their nerve and continued to play counter attacking football and sealed the match with little under five minutes to go when the cavalier, bombarding right back, OLADE YOUSEF skilfully slotted home his first goal for the Club.

Manager Cambridge stated “We always try to play football, but Kev and I knew we had to freshen things up a bit today. The players coming in and the formation both worked well for us”.
