Town Vets travelled to Stevenage and turned in an improved performance to beat Walkern Vets 3-0.
Town dominated possession in the first half but a combination of a firm pitch and a strong back wind made it difficult for Town to create good chances and passes were often over-hit. Town took the lead when excellent ball control by Peter Leete set up an opportunity for himself and he duly obliged with a thumping left-foot volley from 30 yards that flew into the top corner of the net.
Town played much better football against the wind in the second half and created a host of good chances. Nick Humphreys was a constant threat down the left wing with a string of fine crosses into the danger area. Pressure brought its rewards when the ball fell to Carlo Silenti on the edge of the eighteen yard area he crashed a right foot shot past the home 'keeper to extend the lead. Leete then had a shot that was deflected into the net to give Town a comfortable 3-0 win. The defence – Geoff Pinner, Matt McQueen, Nick King, Adam Smith and Kevin Flack – worked well as a unit and 'keeper Simon Dobson was rarely troubled.
