Sumners Youth Cobras 0 – 5 Royston Town Rovers
Rovers first game in their new league was a solid 5-0 win away to Sumners Youth Cobras. Rovers have moved to the Mid Herts Rural Premier Division which will provide the boys with new challenges.
Rovers were on the attack from the off. Busy Midfielder Cory won the ball from a goal kick. He took on Sumners defense, then played a great through ball into the path of Noah whose accurate finish hit the back of the net, One Nil Rovers. Rovers were on top throughout the first half, creating chance after chance, but were unable to add to their tally.
The second half continued as the first ended. Cory was again provider, passing to Joe to score. Two Nil. Soon it was three. Noah whipped a cross in which the keeper saved, but only into the path of Lawrence who hit the target. Rovers fourth was their best. New signing Anthony’s cross field ball found Cory who drove into the Sumners box. He hit a stunning shot which the keeper parried out to Noah whose wonderful curling left foot shot hit the back of the net. Rovers weren’t finished. Two new signings Taylor and Euan linked up well with Euan scoring Rovers fifth. A great performance from all the lads.
