Match | Kings Langley v Royston Town |
Competition | Eastern Junior Alliance: Beds Division |
Result | Won 6-2 |
Royston Scorers | Webb (2), J. Spencer (2), Hennessey, Worbey |
Three weeks ago these two sides produced a 6-4 scoreline at Garden Walk and in the return fixture Royston were once again in fine scoring form as they racked up another six goal to claim the points.
The pitch was excessively heavy underfoot making it hard for the players to produce attractive football. The more direct ball to the front line was always likely to produce the good for the young crows with the pace they have in the squad and this often was the case in this game.
After just four minutes Ryan Webb cracked an eighteen yard dive into the top corner but this was cancelled out on 12 minutes when a Langley forward broke clear to convert easily.
Within three minutes Royston had scored two more goals with Jordan Spencer cracking in a fine 14 yard strike straight from kick off and Ryan Webb scoring his second goal moments later in Royston's next attack.
Both teams then continued to create chances to keep both goals under threat but Royston made the game safe on 60 minutes in freakish style when Luke Hennessey's long ball forward from the half way line bounced over the keeper's head and into the net.
Further goals from Jordan Spencer and a first of the season for Ben Worbey settled any doubts with Langley scoring a late consolation for their efforts.
