Royston Town Youth progressed to the last four of the Magnus Cup after a tremendous victory over the undefeated champions of the Suffolk Eastern Junior Alliance League, Brentwood Town.
Manager Jorden Gibson's gamble of producing two different line ups in two days paid off, with no fewer than 8 coming into the starting line up for this cup tie.
The first half had Royston attacking with the wind, but the hosts had the worst possible start as striker Jordan Spencer fell awkwardly on his knee, it is hoped that the injury won’t be too serious, and was replaced by Ryan Webb who made his first start in a month after injury.
Harry Williams was called into action pretty early making two smart one on one saves to keep the scores level. Williams' long kicks were causing all sorts of problems for the visiting defenders as the pace of Daniel Bond and Marvin Luzinda were giving the Brentwood defence cause for concern.
Royston scored the first goal of the game when Shane Carthy's ball over the top sent Bond free to calmly finish. Bond continued to cause havoc and the goalkeeper produced one fine save as well as another effort hitting the side netting from close range.
Strike partner Luzinda was once again sent through and he raced on to be fouled by the defender on the edge of the area, which gave Webb a free kick from position he relishes, he duly sent a powerful free kick around the wall and past the helpless keeper.

Royston came out positively in the second half, with a change in formation and worked hard in all areas of the pitch. The Young Crows' strong back line of Matt Hodgson, Jahmel Mullings, Thomas Spencer and Ben Robinson made life very difficult for the lively Brentwood forwards. On the hour Royston were outdone when a simple looped ball over the top saw the Brentwood striker race home to place a nicely timed chip over the on rushing Williams.
Captain Alfie Long demanded that his team didn’t crumble and Royston stayed positive and went on search to add to their tally.
Royston's third goal came 5 minutes later, when a high ball saw Bond and the keeper challenge together and the ball trickle over the line. The fourth goal came after some great play down the right hand side saw George Duffin whip in a ball behind the back line for Bond to nicely finish, completing his hat trick.
Substitute Ollie Pemberton completed the impressive score line when a loose ball again from a Webb cross was thumped home.
Royston now have another semi final to look forward as well as a final on the 11th of May at Brentwood Town FC. 7:30 kick off.
Manager Jorden Gibson verdict was: "This was an encouraging victory and those that came in today showed great enthusiasm from start to finish, there was a good feeling around the dressing before the game. We showed great belief and trust in one another tonight and I think the result went the right way".
