Royston Scorers Pemberton(2), Hill(2), J. Spencer, Duffin, Charles(2)

Garden Walk was the venue as Royston Town youth played visitors Cheshunt in the Eastern Junior Alliance league game, in the previous game Royston won 3-0.

With Manager Jorden Gibson thinking he had selection problems, only having 11 players, Cheshunt came with merely 10, which could always work against you. However, Royston started vibrantly with Tremayne Charles scoring direct from a corner after two minutes. Royston continued to put pressure on the Cheshunt goal and on the 13th minute George Duffin scored a sweet left foot volley leaving the keeper helpless. Then, on the 14th minute, Cheshunt went on the attack and a loose ball was picked up by the watchful keeper Harry Williams, his long kick which was flicked on by Jordan Spencer to Ollie Pemberton, who neatly lofted the ball over the on-rushing goalkeeper. Just before the half-time break a Jahmel Mulling free kick found the head of Corey Hill to send the Crows in 4-0 up at half time.

HT: 4-0

Royston continued with impressive style and strung a number of successful passes around which was a delight to watch, and on the 57th minute Duffin's in-swinging corner caused trouble in the 6 yard box and fell nicely for Hill to score his brace. Spencer's dink into the penalty area moments later wasn’t dealt with comfortably by the visitors' keeper whose loose punch found Pemberton to score a brace.

With Royston having a large amount of possession, it could have been more as the Cheshunt keeper made two impressive saves to keep the score down and attempts by Spencer and Ben Robinson failed to test the keeper.

Robinson was instrumental in the 7th goal as he picked up a long ball and ran into the attacking third and sent a nicely weighted pass for a perfectly timed run by Jordan Spencer, who beat the keeper with a one on one. Royston finished the scoring as Charles strike on the edge of the area again left the keeper helpless.

FT: 8-0

Manager Jorden Gibson commented after the game "We played well and having an extra man obviously helped. We could have had more, but showed some sign of naivety as we tended at times to force play and try some wild attempts, but they're young!’".  He continued "However there were some very impressive performances today, to keep a clean sheet showed our defensive unit did their job and three of our strikers scored a brace, we won’t get complacent and will continue working hard in training to develop these young adults".
