Match | Royston Town v Hoddesdon town |
Competition | Pre-Season Friendly |
Result | Won 3-2 |
Royston Scorers | Mullings, Stratton, Turner |
Royston welcomed Hoddesdon Town for their second pre-season friendly and produced a determined 3-2 victory.
The Crows started the slowest of the teams and conceded in the eighth minute when a long throw eluded everyone and left a spare visitor free to put Hoddesdon 1-0 up. Royston started to get to grips and, although they tried to continue with their passing game and at times it wasn’t pretty, the potential was there to be seen.
Dejon Mullings equalised when a neat chipped ball over the full back by Jamie Steele saw Mullings great first touch and calm finish.
HT 1-1
Hoddesdon scored midway through the second half when their number 19 powered home to put them 2-1 up. Tyrell Stratton who has been scoring freely of late including a few for the reserve team thunderbolted from 20 yards leaving the Hoddesdon keeper helpless. Royston then went on to score with the last kick of the game when Callam Turner reacted quickest to a loose ball.
FT 3-2
Manager Jorden Gibson commented "Our passing game wasn’t as fluent as the previous game, but we continued to try and even when mistakes happened our work ethic continued to be strong for each other, these group of players are starting to fit together nicely and the potential is there to be seen".
