Defending was not at its best in this exciting game at Garden Walk on Sunday morning. With six of the ten goals coming in the first half and both goalkeepers often being called into action along with other near misses the only surprise was that only ten goals were scored by the ninety minute mark.
In the end a more composed second half performance from the Crows saw them gain another three points maintaining their unbeaten start to their Sunday campaign.
The scoring was opened in just the third minute when Daniel Bond turned in Tremayne Charles’s cross. This lead was doubled in the 25th minute when Shane Carthy ran into the box and scored from 12 yards.
Kings Langley had around this period already missed three one on one chances without testing the keeper but Harry Williams did make one fine save when he turned a fierce drive onto the post and off for a corner.
Langley reduced the deficit from the penalty spot on 27 minutes but straight from kick off Tremayne Charles chased a seemingly lost cause and lobbed an exquisite effort into the empty net from a tight angle. Then a freakish five minute spell saw Langley score twice from crisp finishes and Royston have two goals disallowed for offside.
With both managers having many a headache at half time it was Royston who showed greater technical ability in the second half and largely controlled the period territorially.
Daniel Bond was causing many a problem with his pace and it was no surprise that most of Royston’s best chances fell to him. He had two one on ones that both missed the target and another was superbly saved as well as George Duffin having a close range drive superbly cleared off the line by a defender.
It was therefore deserved when Bond headed in from close range following a Jordan Spencer cross mid way through the half but amazingly Langley were level within three minutes following more defensive hesitation.
Just as it seemed the points would be shared Bond beat the offside trap to calmly slot home from 20 yards with five minutes remaining to give his side the lead and complete a well deserved hat trick. The score line was given a more emphatic outlook in injury time when Bond was brought down in the area and despite the keeper tipping Ben Worbey’s effort onto a post Shane Carthy followed up to convert the rebound.
