Royston Town Vets were good value for their 1-0 win over Haverhill Rovers Vets in a competitive first match in the Cambs F.A. Invitation League 1.

Town played some excellent football in the first 20 minutes during which time Lee Rogers scored with a right-foot shot into the far corner of the net. He was also unlucky minutes later when he struck the bar. Central defender, Lawrence Revell was again in commanding form.

In the second half Town should have extended their lead with good chances falling to John Moulding and Paul Gibson but they failed to convert and Town had to settle for the 1-0 result.
