Royston's youth team deservedly moved into the Quarter Finals of the County Cup with a goal in each half. Shooting into a stiff wind Royston had to defend well in the first half which they did and limited the hosts to mainly half chances. A very poor penalty decision following a good tackle allowed the hosts a chance to take the lead midway through the half but justice was done when the penalty was struck well wide.

 

Royston gradually worked their way into the game with Jordan shooting just wide and Matt having a header cleared off the line. Just before half time a very poor tackle on Micael out wide saw him exit the game and from the free kick Louis looped a header into the net.

 

Royston largely dominated the second half with the wind advantage playing some good football. Jake brought a fine save from the keeper and Jordan and Matt both missed the target from good positions. The second crucial goal came on 75 minutes when Matt beat the keeper at his near post from 12 yards . A good win and a home draw in the Quarter Final against Ware or Harpenden
