Celtic were caught cold in the first ten minutes of this match going behind after just 5 minutes and then again just 2 minutes later when they had more than one opportunity to clear the ball but failed to do so.

 

To their credit Celtic battled back and were rewarded after 14 minutes with a great goal from Danny who beat the keeper with a well-placed shot. Unfortunately they were unable to build on that and before long had conceded a penalty to hand the initiative back to the home side. Man-of-the-match Angus had other ideas and pulled off a great save to turn a well struck shot round his right-hand post. The balance of play was quite even after that but Fairlands struck again in the 32nd minute to give themselves a 3-1 lead going into half-time.

The second half saw Celtic exert a bit more pressure and they were finally rewarded with a goal from Joe opening his account for the season. The match was then overshadowed by a nasty collision which put keeper Angus out of the game with an injury which fortunately turned out to be less serious that at first thought. After that Celtic pressed hard but couldn't find an equaliser.
