Royston Town U10 girls entertained Berkhampstead Raiders at a packed Roysia School hoping to put last weekend’s loss behind them and get back to winning ways. Town started strongly with the energetic Emer running at the Raiders defence supported by Aimee in attack and were unlucky not to take an early lead. The opposition’s attacks were easily dealt with by Royston’s defence line of Taiah, Emma and Amy.  Town were unlucky not to take the lead as Ellie struck a post with a well taken effort but the first half finished goalless.

The second half began as the first had finished with Royston on top and pushing forward for the opener through Lara and Izzy. With Olivia determined not to let her opposite number score and Katie running from deep it only seemed a matter of time before Royston scored, but it was Berkhampstead who against the run of play managed to score a scrappy goal. As has been the way all season Town never let their heads go down with Lydia and Kathryn now marshalling the defence and pushing forward for the equalizer which came as the ball cannoned of the Raiders defender into the path of Bryony who smashed the ball into the net.  Royston nearly took the lead in the last minutes as an Ellie long range effort was well saved by the opposition’s keeper as the game finished 1-1.
