It was a “THRILLER”.
In near arctic conditions Royston U10 girls travelled to top of the table Bury Rangers in this latest Div 2 fixture. Royston started slowly and were under pressure from Bury but some excellent goal keeping by Katie kept the scores level. Town started to get into the game more with Aimee and Emer hassling up front while Emma and Amy held firm in defence. Bury were having more of the play but with Lydia playing a holding midfield role Royston were able to keep a clean sheet through to half time.

Royston started the second half strongly and were unlucky not to snatch a goal after a good passing move ended with a shot from Katie flashing across the face of the goal. It was Bury who broke the deadlock with a breakaway goal which Royston failed to close down. With Taiah orchestrating attacks from the back Town were pushing for an equalizer but it was Bury who extended their lead with another breakaway goal that gave the Royston keeper no chance.

Town didn’t let their heads go down and after some good work from Kathryn this allowed Ellie to fire home a fantastic shot from an acute angle. Royston were now on the attack for the equalizer which came with nearly the last kick of the game after a shot was spilled by the Bury keeper to the impressive Bryony who fired home from close range.

The final whistle blew with the score Bury Rangers 2-2 Royston Town.
