Austen Arrowheads v Royston Town Youth Rovers

Royston Crow Youth Football League U12 9v9 Division 1

Won 1-3

Rovers secured another three points by winning a tough away fixture at Austen Arrowheads.

The match began with both teams creating chances and Austen appeared to have the upper hand due to the assistance of the wind direction and a slightly slopping pitch. Rovers defence thwarted any real danger with good tackles and clearances. Goalkeeper Alfie made a couple of good saves and Rovers went in at half time nil- nil.

The second half kicked off with Rovers upping their game. They applied pressure and were awarded a corner. Center-half JJ came up from defence and headed home from a good Kian corner. One nil Rovers. The boys continued to press and 20mins into the half were given a free-kick. Noah hit a beautiful shot which beat the keeper. Austen hit back straight after with a good finish, two-one, game on! Rovers again upped their performance and were awarded another free-kick which Noah took again, but the keeper made a finger tipped save to nudge it over the bar. The boys  kept on going. Harry Hawes won the ball in midfield and passed to  Noah who went on a good run. His pass found Lucas who shot was turned in by an unfortunate Austen player. Three one Rovers.

Another excellent team performance with good passing, gritty defending and lovely dead ball play. Well done boys you make us proud!
