It was a bit “after the lord mayor’s show” with the boy’s putting in a fragmented and below par performance on a breezy and overcast Wednesday evening but still did enough to win by three goals to nil and keep a clean sheet.
Mid-week games are never great as the boys have obviously had full days at school, have done other sports during the day and are not able to give their usual 100%. It is the same for both teams and at least we were playing at home taking out the travel factor.
It was a scrappy first half with Royston creating the more chances, but the only goal coming two minutes in with Callum pouncing on a lost ball in the six yard box and powering low through the melee. 1-0.
The boys worked hard but their final pass didn’t quite happen tonight and when shots were made they went wide or high.

The win tonight secures runners up position for Royston Town Youth Colts in the top division of the Cambs League and barring a disaster from Teversham in their last two games that will probably be where we finish up.
