A cold, breezy afternoon for our first match of 2014.  A home game against Bedwell Rangers Irons.

Crows soon settled into the game and had several attempts at goal; James crossed the ball into the six yard area but Jake could not quite get a touch to the ball, Jack N on his debut for the Crows had a shot at goal that was saved by the keeper, James hit the side netting and Chris made a great cross but no-one could reach it. 

Jack N had an attempt at goal which hit the post but Josh followed through and slotted the ball into the back of the net.   1-0 to Royston.

Crows continued to press forward with a great strike from Chris at 20 years which went just wide of the post.

Crow did not have it their own way and Irons had two corners both of which were headed away by Wilko and also had a shot on target that was safely caught by Brad. 

Irons were awarded a penalty when Lewis M brought down a striker.  A great save by Brad kept Crows in the led at half time.

A shaky start for the Crows in the second half; a miskick in defence led to Irons get possession of the ball and beating Brad to score. Royston 1-1 Irons.

Crows got quickly back in the game with further attempts at goal from Callum, Josh, Wilko & Jack N but great saves by the keeper prevented us from scoring.

A well hit ball from a Crow clearance from outside the area saw the ball lob over Brad. Royston 1-2 Irons.

Not to be beaten, Royston battled on.  A good pass was made to Josh who then managed to chip the ball over the keeper’s head to level the game.  Royston 2-2 Irons.

Determined not to settle for a draw, a good pass from James to Callum saw him plant the ball in the bottom left hand corner of the goal. Royston 3-2 Irons.

Final score Royston win 3-2.   A further three points for Crows to keep them top of the league with maximum points.
