First game of the season, and to a County Cup fixture away at Sandridge.

 

Moments after kick off the heavens opened making it tricky underfoot.

 

This lead to a slightly heavy handed challenge from Toby on a Sandridge forward which lead to a penalty being awarded in the first ten minutes of the game. The Sandridge penalty taker tried slotting in the bottom right corner, however Bradley pulled off an energetic dive to put the ball out for a corner. This close call by Sandridge fired them into action tearing open or defence leaving Bradley playing out from his line to slow the pace of their forward players. Very creative play from Sandridge, and some great through balls saw them punish us, leading to six goals from open play.

 

In the closing minutes of the game a glimmer of hope came from a cross, flighted in from Chris which seemed to bobble around in the area, of which during the melee Toby got forced down in the opponents box. Penalty!

 

Danny instantly looked for confirmation from the side line stepped up calmly and planted a great ball into the back of the net. Shortly followed the final whistle. 6-1 to Sandridge was the final result.

 

Notable consistent performances from Jack D and Lewis M showing great commitment and work rate.

 

Man of the match went to Brad for some excellent saves and great confidence on the ball.
