A bright chilly afternoon for our home match against Sawbridgeworth Eagles.
Crows got off to a good start with a quick goal in the first minute of the game. A pass from Josh set up James for the opener. 1-0 to Royston.
Chris had a great run down the wing and took a shot which skimmed the crossbar; this was shortly followed by a great strike by Wilko from 25 yards which was saved by the Keeper.
Our second goal came from a corner by Chris which was then headed towards goal by George. The keeper cleared it but David followed through to tap it home. 2-0 to Royston.
On a couple of occasions Eagles passed through our defence but good saves from Brad prevented them from scoring.
Our third goal came from a corner by Wilko which led to a shot from Josh. The keeper cleared but James blasted it into the back of the net. 3-0 to Royston.
Royston kept up the pressure with further shots at goal; Danny with a diving header which was saved off the line, Josh had a shot saved by the keeper and Wilko had another great strike which hit the crossbar.
Eagles had a corner which came to nothing due to good clearance from Joseph who passed it to Dan. Dan then passed it to Chris who ran quickly down the wing taking a shot and scoring. 4-0 to Royston.
Crows started the second half with James in Goal. The opposition got off to a good start pushing forward and a good strike by Eagles saw them score. 4-1 to Royston.
Eagles continued their good run with a further shot just over the crossbar.
Royston got back into the game after a stagnant 10 minutes. Josh, Danny, George and Wilko all had shots at goal.
Brad was awarded a penalty when he was brought down in the area. Brad stepped up to the mark but his shot was saved by the keeper.
Brad was then rewarded with a goal after a good cross from Chris which was tapped in by Brad. 5-1 to Royston.
Eagles didn’t give up and were rewarded with a second goal towards the end of the second half. 5-2 to Royston.
Strong defending by Lewis M, Toby, Lewis R and Joseph along with a strong presence from George in midfield helped prevent more goals.
Royston continued moving forward with further attempts at goal by Callum, Wilko and Danny.
Final score Royston win 5-2. A further three points for Crows to keep them top of the league.
