This fixture has always been an even affair and this day was no exception. Colts started the game very brightly and began to move the ball well. However Bassingbourn was not to be out done and started to impose themselves. The game was mainly played in midfield with Man of the match Bradley tackling and competing for every ball. Cameron working tirelessly up front had a very good game ably assisted by the pace and presence of Jamie . With 15 minutes gone Colts had their first real chance when Bradley won the ball in midfield and sent a rasping long range effort angling towards the top corner only to see the host keeper pull off a fantastic save. From the resulting corner Jordan sent over a wicked cross only to see the Keeper save well again. Bassingbourn had a couple of good breakaways and were it not for a timely challenge from Colts Captain Josh could have gone one nil up. The second half started with a quick start from the hosts who moved the ball to the edge of the Colts penalty area but to the relief of the visiting crowd it came to nothing. The game became end to end again with both sides failing to find the crucial final shot. However Bassingbourn did go ahead when Colts failed to clear their lines and a shot from just inside the box eluded the outstretched hand of Jack . This was the spur that was needed for Colts to up their game and a with ten minutes to go Colts equalised when Jamie crossed from the right and Cameron headed neatly over the keeper into the back of the goal. Some nervous minutes ensued as the Ref saw the linesman’s flag waving but after a short discussion it was deemed that the player off side wasn’t Cameron so wasn’t interfering with play. The result of 1-1 was a fair result for both teams.
