After playing two high flying teams, and doing very well against them, in the last couple of weeks Royston could have gone into this game thinking they will have an easy game. Royston started brightly enough with James E looking very sharp up front but it was Stevenage that took the lead. After very lapse defending where a defender and the goalkeeper left the ball for each other a Stevenage striker stole in to prod the ball into the back of the net. This gave Royston the wakeup call they needed and virtually from the kick off could have levelled the game after a good run and shot from Man of the match Jamie O’C, however this was just a rehearsal for the real thing as Jamie O’C received the ball just inside the visitors half and turned the defender inside out before releasing an unstoppable shot from just outside the box giving the visiting keeper no chance. Royston looked very sharp up front and increased the lead when Cameron S cut in from the left wing and after beating two defenders slid the ball into the net. Once again though Royston allowed the visitors to equalise when they didn’t pick up the run of a Stevenage winger and he crossed for their striker to score with ease. Royston continued to press and they were rewarded when a great corner taken by Tom McG found its way into the back of the net.

The second half started with Stevenage trying to force the game only to be out done by a cool strike by Jordan H following several shots on goal. Royston were now very comfortable with the ball and attacked with ease and they capped a good attacking display with arguably the best team goal of the game. Troy M was fouled about 30 yards out, Bradley C took a quick free kick to Troy M who ran down the right and sent in a great ball for Smith to volley home for his second and Royston’s fifth of the game.
