We got to Hatfield in plenty of time for our first league game only to be delayed 35 minutes due to rabbit holes on the pitch, thanks to the dads of my team for filling them in other wise the ref was going to call it off.

A strong wind had got up and we decided to kick with it first half. We too often played in straight lines so the ball just ran away but the longer the half went on the more we used angled passes to James R and Brad out wide. We were the ones asking all the questions and there keeper made a couple of excellent saves. We forced a corner on twenty five minutes and once again James R derived a great corner and Richard ran across his marker and planted his header in the roof of the net a great goal. We continued to press for the rest of the half but had to settle for a slender lead at half time.

We asked the boys to relax on the ball as to often we were rushing passes and to make sure we pressed the ball and to make sure we did not get caught with long range shots.

Hatfield were content in pumping balls long which we easily dealt with and with the wind even stronger we controlled the game the longer it went on.

The second goal came ten minutes from time and it was worth the wait, the ball was played to Rhys on the half way line and he turned his marker and ran away from the rest of there defence his shot was brilliantly saved from there keeper but Rhys reacted the quickest for our second. We saw the game out with out Hatfield having a single shot on our goal.

This was not a vintage performance but we worked hard and were worthy winners. Mention to the subs who all came on and played there part especially Matt who came on at half time and was superb and that's what you want from the squad.
